We had another wonderful opportunity to take part in the Towncentre Taupo Plywood 3D Christmas Tree Project again this year. These recycled plywood boards were delivered to us ready for painting. All children at Wairakei Primary School were invited to submit their Christmas tree designs. Mrs. Griffin used many ideas from these designs for the trees. These included creative, colourful patterns and our school POWER values.
A team of students from different year levels gave up their own time to paint the Christmas trees with Mrs Griffin.
We started with using rollers to apply a base colour to the boards.
Next we sketched the designs onto the boards and used thick, medium and fine paint brushes to apply the paint.
Even our New Entrant students participated in this project. They were very excited and enjoyed contributing to a big school activity.
The students' hard work certainly paid off with two complete Christmas trees finished and ready for pick up.
I loved using the different colours. I loved the designs.
I had fun. We got to paint something everyone will see in town.
I loved the colour. Painting inside the lines was tricky.
These Christmas Trees will be on display in town over the Christmas holidays. Keep a look out for these amazing works of art. They are a tiny example of the creativity and perseverance our students at Wairakei Primary School are capable of.
Thank you to our artists.
