Making Potions

Some of the junior children have shown an interest in creating ‘potions’ at interval and lunchtime lately, so we decided to extend this interest during discovery time.

Mrs Thompson showed them how to create fizzing rainbow potions using vinegar, dishwashing detergent, baking soda and food colouring. It was lots of fun stirring the mixture and watching it fizz and overflow onto the tray. The children enjoyed adding other colours to the mixture too. After this, we provided the children with a range of jugs, bowls, cups and containers and they created their own ‘potions’ using water, food colouring, detergent and natural resources that they found around them.

They had lots of creative fun.
