During SWOOP writing activities, students put themselves in the mind of an eagle flying over the setting. From this perspective they write descriptions of what they see.

Using expressive vocabulary to describe the features of the setting the students have created very detailed descriptions, playing with the sentence types that they have been learning about during class writing lessons. Red, white, and blue sentences, preposition starts, adverb starts, similes and metaphors have all been utilised to create interesting paragraphs about the setting.

I am passionate about our students, teaching and learning, particularly in the areas of literacy, digital technology, physical education, and the Arts. I believe that forming positive relationships with students and whānau are at the heart of success for everyone.

I enjoy Wairakei Primary School for the whānaungatanga and maanaakitanga where close connections between staff, students, and the wider Wairakei community are fostered and enjoyed.
